Aside from testing out the G9s 6K mode the real purpose of the day was to try and capture some nice images of a couple of the more common birds of Fuerteventura, namely the Desert Grey Shrike and the Spectacled Warbler.
Although common neither are the easiest species to photograph as the Shrike is generally wary and the Warbler a flitty skulker. As it turned out the Shrikes were a bit of a “Turkey Shoot” as they were everywhere and suprisingly confiding, the Warbler lived up to its billing but after some perseverance I managed to catch up with a nice male. Surprisingly the best shots of a Shrike both came from 6K captures.
