After a hectic couple of weeks we decided to have a fairly lazy day with just some early morning and late afternoon birding around Habarana.
The weather since we arrived in Sri Lanka had been hot, very hot, even the locals were commenting that it was usually hot – hence any form of activity for us and indeed our avian friends was out of the question from about 11.00am until 4.00pm.
There is some good habitat around Habarana and quite varied at that with forest, lakes, scrub and some cultivated land.
We had good sightings of a number of interesting species and managed to keep our tally on endemics ticking along.
