Kandy

3 March 2020

En-route to the central highlands of Sri Lanka we had a quick stop-over in the former capital Kandy.

It is busy city set amongst the hills and around the shores of Kandy Lake, it has a rather faded colonial air but nontheless certain charm about it and some noteable cultural sights that are worth seeing, most notably the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

The backstreets are well worth visiting and give a real insight into life and commerce in the city.

In the evening we visited a cultural dance show at the Kandy Lake Club, it was….. well interesting ! …. we rather expected Windsor Davis and Don Estelle to appear at any moment it was all rather sureal.
